Yet another mobile game dev is working on a Splatoon copycat

Over the years, there have been a few mobile game developers who saw something they liked in Splatoon and decided to blatantly copy it for their own games. Almost all of these copycat games drew the attention of Nintendo, who swooped in to squash the projects. It looks like that situation is about to happen yet again.

Chinese mobile game developer Luo Wei has put together a gameplay video showcasing their latest project, and you can check it out above. Within seconds of seeing gameplay, it’s completely obvious this title is an egregious clone of Splatoon. The character designs may be different, but the gameplay ideas and even stage designs absolutely scream Splatoon.

As far as we know, Nintendo hasn’t moved on Luo Wei’s project yet, but it seems like just a matter of time. We’ll keep an eye on the situation and let you know if Nintendo’s ninjas make a move.
