The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will soon be old news, as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is releasing May 12th, 2023. As a last hurrah for the Switch launch title, one fan has decided to painstakingly work their way through the entire game to revamp the visuals, making for a pretty impressive overhaul.

After a year’s worth of work, a Breath of the Wild 4K texture pack has been released. Obviously, you can’t enjoy this mod on a standard Switch, but that doesn’t mean we can watch the footage and be enamored with it. As you’ll see, the entire game is upscaled: all of the textures, fonts and inventory items, and more.

It’s pretty crazy to see just how much more impressive the game can look with higher-quality textures. Even better, it’s nice to see a rework that respects Nintendo’s original efforts by simply upscaling and reworking what Nintendo did, instead of removing their work for something completely different.

If you’re interested in learning more about this 4K rework, you can get more details via the YouTube video’s description.
