The Legend of Zelda diehard fans have been poring every asset Nintendo has released for Tears of the Kingdom, and that includes the new trailer and round of screens that dropped after last week’s Nintendo Direct. It’s one moment in that trailer in particular, which Nintendo also shared as a screen, that is getting Zelda fans really excited.

You can see that particular moment above, which shows off a dark, stormy night in Hyrule. On the right-hand side of the image you can see a rather ominous-looking monster. A closer look at that creature reveals that it could very well be the return of a classic Zelda foe.

The consensus seems to be that this monster is none other than a Gleeok, which first appeared all the way back in the original Legend of Zelda. Gleeoks are monsters resembling a dragon with multiple heads. If the Gleeok heads are struck enough, they often detach and fight independently until the body is finally defeated. While they’ve appeared in games like Phantom Hourglass and The Minish Cap, there’s no doubt Gleeoks are most memorable for their appearances as bosses in The Legend of Zelda.

Is the Gleeok making a grand return for Tears of the Kingdom? It certainly looks that way in the image above, but we won’t know for sure until The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom arrives on May 12th, 2023.
