Portlandia co-creator Jonathan Krisel is currently in negotiations to direct the sequel to Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, as reported by Deadline. Chris Galletta has already been locked in to handle the script for this follow-up.

The original Pokémon: Detective Pikachu was directed by Rob Letterman and starred Ryan Reynolds, Ken Watanabe, Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton. It was released by Warner Bros on May 10, 2019, and grossed more than $430 million at the worldwide box office.

No specifics have been shared on the sequel at this time, but it’s nice to know that things are finally moving along.

Thanks to d_says_hi for the heads up!
