New Super Mario Bros. movie stills feature tons of Easter eggs

Nintendo has sent out a new email to fans, reminding them that the Super Mario Bros. movie is set to open on April 5th, 2023. Along with a link to a previously-released trailer, Nintendo also included a couple of never-before-seen stills from the movie. Even more interesting, those stills are chock-full of Easter eggs.

As long as you don’t mind some spoilers for neat references and nods in the movie, you can hit the jump to see the pictures.

As you can see, while both pictures may seem pretty standard at first, there’s a bunch of Easter eggs and nods hiding in plain sight. There’s no doubt you see the Punch-Out!! images right away, but there’s also a Duck Hunt reference, an actual NES sitting by the TV, and a lot more.
