All the way back in 2014, it was revealed that Warner Bros. was going to bring about a Minecraft movie. What has followed is nearly a decade of development hell, and unfortunately, we’ll be waiting roughly 12 years altogether just to see the movie.

Today, Warner Bros. has confirmed that the Minecraft movie is very much alive, and now it has an official release date. Those looking forward to seeing the big screen Minecraft adaptation will have to wait until April 4th, 2025 to do so. Unfortunately, we still have zero details on the story or approach for this movie.

What we do know about the Minecraft movie is that Jason Momoa will be voicing a character, and Jared Hess will be directing. Hess is best know for directing Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that this is happening after the Mario movie is showing early signs of being a massive success. Expect a boatload of other video game adaptations to get greenlit within the next couple of months.
