The Spin Dash is one of the most iconic moves in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It made its debut all the way back in 1992 with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and has been a part of multiple installments since. Unfortunately, one place you can’t find the move is in Sonic Frontiers, but that’s about to change.

According to Sonic Team’s Morio Kishimoto, the Spin Dash will indeed make its way to Sonic Frontiers, and we can expect to see it added via the game’s second big update. While we don’t have an exact date for this update, we do know that it’s set to release sometime in 2023.

As previously detailed, Sonic Frontiers’ second update will bring a Sonic Birthday Celebration, Open Zone Challenge and new Koco. As for why the Spin Dash wasn’t included in the game’s first update, Kishimoto said the team needed a bit more time to perfect the move, so they bumped it to Update 2.

This is great news! I saw a mod that added that move to the game and it’s a natural fit for the game’s sweeping, hilly environments. Looks like a lot of fun
