North American hardware/software sales for March 2023
PS5 is clearly the new market leader
The latest sales figures for the game industry have come in. Today brings us stats on how things are going in North America, and first up we have the top 20 software sales.
As far as hardware figures go, we know that the PS5 was #1 in terms of units sold and revenue. The Switch came in #2 in terms of units sold, while the Xbox was #2 in terms of revenue. Unfortunately, no specific numbers were shared for any platform.
Finally, we also have some stats on the game industry in North America in general. Again, this only pertains to March 2023.
- spending on video game content, hardware and accessories totaled $4.6 billion
- this is a 5% decline when compared to a year ago
- year-to-date consumer spending fell 1% when compared to the same period in 2022, to $13.6B
