It’s very much full-steam ahead for Sonic cinematic projects at this point. The first Sonic movie was a big success, and so far, it seems the sequel is going to eclipse it by a considerable amount. With that kind of fan support fueling the franchise, all parties involved are very eager to keep expanding the universe.

Announced a few weeks back, Knuckles is getting his own TV series for Paramount Plus, and Idris Elba will be returning once again to voice the character. In an interview with Discussing Film, director Jeff Fowler gives a small update on how that series is progressing.

“Oh, it’s very early with all of that [the Knuckles series]. One thing I knew after we finished the film, people are going to love this character. They’re going to love Idris playing this character and they’re going to want more of Knuckles absolutely. So right now, all the focus is just on getting people excited and getting them out to see the sequel. Then, we’ll go from there. He’s such a wonderful character that there are so many different ways that you can go [in the series] that fans could really get excited by, so that will hopefully all come along very soon. But for now, I’m just so excited to get people to see the sequel.”

Seems like it’ll be quite awhile until we the Knuckles series actually hits Paramount Plus, but there’s no doubt everyone involved is raring to go. Hopefully we get some sort of substantial update on the project in the not-too-distant future.
