In Stardew Valley, the Community Center is a place where you can deposit items in bundles to obtain rewards and fix things around the town. The Community Center is locked for the first couple of days in-game, but the mayor eventually swings by and lets you explore what the building has to offer.

In a tweet from Stardew Valley dev ConcernedApe, we get to see how the idea of the Community Center came to be. It all started with some sketches in a notebook, and you can see the full design document below.


It’s pretty interesting to see how the idea of the Community Center first started, along with some of the ideas the developer was pondering. Obviously, there were some considerable changes between this design doc and what appears in the final game, but the beginnings of the idea are definitely present.
