Pikachu No. 3 card sells for $300k at auction
One of just four PSA-certified copies
Back in April, it was announce that an exceedingly rare Pokémon card that only was available to players in a tournament held in Japan more than a quarter of a century ago would be up for grabs in the Trading Card Games Signature Auction.
The Pokémon Trophy Pikachu No. 3 Trainer Bronze PSA Trading Card Game NM-MT 8 (Media Factory, 1997) 1st Tournament, Holo is one of just four PSA-certified copies to earn a NM-MT 8 grade, with none graded higher. The only way to get the card was to be a trainer at the First Official Pocket Monsters Tournament in Chiba, Japan, in 1997.
The TCGS Auction has now come and gone, and the Pikachu No. 3 card has indeed been sold. There were over 50 bids on the card throughout the auction, but the winner ended up spending $300k to add the rare release to their collection. This card is just one of four PSA-certified copies, so the auction winner is indeed holding onto something incredibly rare, and the value is only going to climb.
