Masahiro Sakurai is back with another game development video, and this one fits into the Grab Bag category. Instead of insight into how to make games, Sakurai has pulled back the curtain on a game he crafted.

In honor of Kirby’s 31st anniversary and Sakurai’s video series reaching 100 videos, the man himself has decided to share all sorts of details on how Kirby’s Dream Land was created. Kirby got his start on the humble Game Boy, a platform that wasn’t exactly packing a ton of power. This forced Sakurai and the dev team to come up with some unique ideas and tricks to work around limitations.

As is usually the case, these restrictions helped Sakurai think outside the box and create a unique adventure that birthed an entire franchise!
