NetherRealm Studios celebrates 30 years of Mortal Kombat with a special video

Believe it or not, the Mortal Kombat franchise made its debut 30 years ago! In honor of the occasion, the developers at NetherRealm Studios put together a special video to celebrate the milestone, but most importantly, to thank fans for making it possible.

It’s one thing to have a hit game or two under your belt, but it’s another completely to create a franchise that can stand the test of time. Mortal Kombat has certainly proven itself to be worthy, as the series has only grown in popularity as the years rolled on. Now 30 years later, it’s clear Mortal Kombat is here to stay!

There have been rumblings of another Mortal Kombat entry being in the works, but you won’t get any confirmation in this video. What you will get is a tease of things to come, so we’ll just have to keep fingers crossed that whatever does crop up will make its way to Switch or the platform’s successor.
