After numerous delays and setbacks, 2K has unceremoniously cancelled the Switch version of Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

2K put out a new press release for Marvel’s Midnight Suns today, and the bulk of that update pertained to the PS4/XB1 versions of the game. Snuck in the middle of the press release is a single line about the Switch release that reads as follows:

Note that a Nintendo Switch version of Marvel’s Midnight Suns is no longer planned.

No other details about the Switch version’s cancellation have been shared. Hopefully we get some sort of deeper explanation in the coming days/weeks.

The game already underperformed on its launch platforms, developer Firaxis is in a leadership transition, and the Switch as a platform is starting to fade. Unfortunate, but understandable. Maybe it can become a sleeper hit over time and get a port to the Switch's successor.

Absolutely loved playing this on PS5. Haven't gotten around to the DLC other than Venom. Please give this game a chance if you were waiting for the Switch port.

i think the PS4 and Xbone are fading as platforms much faster than the Switch is, so i really don't think it's an audience issue. I guess they just couldn't get it running at an acceptable level on the weaker hardware. Which is unfortunate since it really doesn't even look like that demanding a game compared to for example the Witcher 3 or Nier Automata, but the devs of this game had trouble getting their game to run at a stable framerate on even the PS5 at launch - so it's either an inexperienced team or way more demanding than it appears or maybe a little of both.

I guess the only good thing for me is that I wasn't planning to get it at all. Too bad they did not make a Midnight Sons game with that comics team. I am so tired of the same old characters.

True. By "fade" I was thinking of both being past its sales peak and aging out of what kind of ports it can handle.
