Back in mid-March, the Taiwanese ratings board listed Super Mega Baseball 4 for Switch release. Today, EA has officially confirmed the title for Switch and shared the first trailer, along with fresh details.

Super Mega Baseball 4 officially launches worldwide June 2nd featuring baseball legend David “Big Papi” Ortiz and Super Mega Legend Hammer Longballo as cover athletes.

Super Mega Baseball 4 is where the Legends play. More than 200 larger-than-life versions of fan-favorite former pros like Babe Ruth, Randy Johnson, Jose Bautista, and Vladimir Guerrero are ready to step onto the field and join the roster of beloved Super Mega League All-Stars.

The series’ signature combination of arcade-inspired style and immersive gameplay depth returns as the latest Super Mega Baseball title adds 6 all-new stadiums and more significant presentation upgrades, an entire lineup of fan-requested features, and expanded cross-gen and cross-platform multiplayer.

Pre-order Super Mega Baseball 4 Ballpark Edition and receive three-day early access and three additional stadiums (Peril Point at launch, Ciudad de Colores and Castillo Arena in July and August respectively).

This is the first time the Super Mega Baseball series has seen the inclusion of real-life MLB players, which is no doubt thanks to EA picking up publishing duties. In an interview with Polygon, Metalhead studio director Scott Drader explained the team’s approach to bringing these real-life stars to the wacky world of Super Mega Baseball.

“Trying to figure out what the right fit, for licensed players, is in Super Mega, we’re not just looking for big names; we’re looking for a good spread of positions, and eras, so that it fits from a game design perspective. Of course, we are looking for all of those things. We’re also looking for, like, Super Mega personalities, too, and players that felt like they should just be in this take on baseball, right?”
