Based on the weekly sales we’ve seen in Japan, it comes as no surprise that Kirby and the Forgotten Land was the best-selling game in Japan for March 2022. Kirby managed to sell 380,000 copies in the first two days. To compare, Kirby Star Allies sold 224,000 copies in the first 3 days. Furthermore, the little pink demon managed to sell more than double the number of boxed copies of Pokémon Legends: Arceus (125,851) and Triangle Strategy (117,800).

The Nintendo Switch accounted for 69.8% of the physical games sold. This month is the first month of the year where Nintendo was the biggest-selling publisher in Japan, as The Pokémon Company had that spot for two months.

On the hardware side of things, the Nintendo Switch accounted for 78% (45.3% for OLED Model and 20% for the standard model).
