Chicory's dev team reveals how the game's musical number came to be
An amazing moment in a magical game
Chicory: A Colorful Tale is a wonderful game top to bottom, and that certainly goes for the game’s soundtrack. Its an amazing audio adventure thanks to Lena Raine, a composer you might know from her work on Celeste.
While there are plenty of fantastic musical moments throughout Chicory, one particular moment stands out. At one point during the adventure, you’re hit with rather deep musical performance between your character and Chicory. It’s a beautiful song that really hits the core of what Chicory is all about. Now we have some insight into how that piece was created.
In an interview with Eurogamer, dev Greg Lobanov reveals the impetus for how the unforgettable moment came to be, and why it’s so important to the game.
“I think for almost no reason I was like ‘there should be a musical number at some point.’ I’m really really glad we did it. I was surprised at how much it captured just a lot of different things that I’d been thinking through. I’m really glad that we got it in.”
