The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been an absolute juggernaut at the box office, clearing the $1 billion revenue mark with ease. The film will no doubt pull in another $1 billion through the box office and home release, so we’re just getting started with the film’s success!

Obviously, fans have been wondering what other franchises Nintendo will bring to the silver screen following Mario’s stellar modern-day debut. Countless gamers have shared interest in Nintendo crafting a Legend of Zelda movie, and it seems one of the big names at Nintendo would be down for that as well.

In an interview with Polygon, Eiji Aonuma was asked if the Mario movie’s success has excited him for the potential of a Legend of Zelda movie. Not surprisingly, Aonuma is on-board. Even Tears of the Kingdom director Hidemaro Fujibayashi chimed in with a comment as well.

Aonuma: I have to say, I am interested. For sure. But it’s not just me being interested in something that makes things happen, unfortunately.

Fujibayashi: Maybe the voice of the fans is what’s important here.
