The Lord of the Rings: Gollum launched on multiple platforms earlier this week, but Switch owners will have to wait until later this year. It seems that’s actually a blessing in disguise, as the game has not received a warm welcome at all.

Multiple outlets and players have lashed out at The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, mentioning its many bugs and lackluster experience overall. The team behind the game is not oblivious to the backlash, which has led to them sharing a statement on Twitter.

In short, the team has apologized for the state The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is in and have pledged to address multiple issues going forward through patches. We can only hope this means the Switch version, when it eventually launches, will be in much better shape. You can see the team’s full statement below.

I fully expect that the Switch version will eventually be cancelled.

Nintendo delays TOTK for about a year to allow polish and testing. Other publishers are increasingly shipping broken and unfinished products. Seems like this practice has only increased since Cyberpunk 2077.
