Nintendo going after unofficial Splatoon smartphone apps

When it comes to smartphone apps for Splatoon fans, Nintendo wants to make sure the only option out there is the official SplatNet 3 release.

Reports are coming in of Nintendo going after multiple developers behind various third party Splatoon smartphone apps. These developers are receiving cease and desist letters, which has led to apps shutting down.

For example, the salmdroidNW, Salmonia3+, and ikawidget3 smartphone apps are now gone, as they’ve either received a cease and desist from Nintendo, or they shut down in advance due to concerns contact from Nintendo was on the way. As to why Nintendo is squashing these apps, no details were shared.
