The Minecraft movie has been in development Hell for an extremely long time, but it appears Warner Bros. is finally getting their act together.

It’s been confirmed that Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa, is going to be a part of the Minecraft film adaptation. This movie will be a live-action adaptation, but it’s not clear if Mamoa will appear on-screen or will be lending his voice to a character.

In further news, Napoleon Dynamite filmmaker Jared Hess will direct the project, while Dune producer Mary Parent and Roy Lee will produce. Executive producers include Jon Berg, Cale Boyter and Jon Spaihts. Finally, Jill Messick will receive a posthumous producing credit for developing the film before her death in 2018.

The Minecraft movie has passed through a LOT of hands. And now it ends up in the hands of Jared Hess? I know he has his fans, but I'm not one of them. His movies are for a very specific taste.

But I'm just guessing that executive meddling will have already ruined this movie before Hess got it anyway. But they can feel free to surprise me... the Lego Movie sure did.
