When it comes to big-name games and franchises, there are plenty of leaks and insiders claiming to have an early scoop. 9 times out of 10 those leaks are flat-out false, but every once in awhile someone clearly is in the know. Turns out that rare occasion came about roughly one year ago in regards to the Mortal Kombat franchise.

NetherRealm Studios recently pulled back the curtain on Mortal Kombat 1, a reboot for the long-running fighting franchise. It’s a big reset for the Mortal Kombat series, and there’s a lot of new an exciting things going on. Unbelievably, we see that someone had the scoop on a lot of Mortal Kombat 1’s direction long before anything was announced.

The image above comes from a Reddit post where someone leaked an absolute ton of information on Mortal Kombat 1 through a series of riddles. That leaker has long since deleted their account, giving no one a chance to dig deep and discover who they were.

The post itself revealed the Kameo fighter system, the relationship between Sub-Zero and Scorpion, the convergence of timelines and much more. Without a doubt, whoever was behind this leak had unpresented access to NetherRealm’s development process.
