Venba is a narrative cooking game where you play as an Indian mom who immigrates to Canada with her family in the 1980s. Players will cook various dishes and restore lost recipes, hold branching conversations and explore in this story about family, love, loss and more.

The team behind Venba wanted to make sure the cooking component of the game was as authentic as possible, so they went all-out on capturing the experience. According to the devs, each meal was made multiple times for the game in order to create art and sounds that were spot-on.

Furthermore, the sounds for each meal were recorded in-person, with sound designer Neha Patel holding the mic to capture the sounds of sizzling oil and more. Most impressive is the fact that the team went through each of the different spices used in the game in order to record the sounds they made when being stirred into a meal. In other words, Venba’s team has gone to incredibly lengths to ensure an authentic cooking experience unlike any other!
