The Legend of Zelda franchise first came around back in the NES days and it’s been going strong ever since. Decades later, Link, Zelda and Ganon are still battling it out, and fans clearly can’t get enough.

Following the latest round of financial data from Nintendo, we now know that The Legend of Zelda franchise has reached an amazing 150 million units sold worldwide. That figure includes the release of every single Zelda game over the years, both portable and console combined.

Want an even more impressive stat? When you take the sales of just The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, they account for more than one third of the total franchise sales. That just goes to show the unbelievable success of those titles, and the speed at with The Legend of Zelda’s popularity is growing.

Tears of the Kingdom being a third of that is mind-boggling.

It’s TOTK plus BOTW that account for a third of those sales. Not TOTK alone. Still impressive.

I kinda wish Nintendo will launch a side Zelda series that's closer to the old 3D games and then continue to make the mainline games open world.

Zelda has always been better than Mario, which is like saying one kid is better than the other because they're both great, but it's great to finally see it get its due after being such a big fan for over 30 years.
