The results of a new survey have found that Linkedin, Nintendo and Sky are Gen Z’s top employers, and it’s largely thanks to social impact.

There were 100 different companies included in the Social Impact Barometer 2023 survey, and when it comes to the ‘Career Maker’ category, Nintendo found themselves in second place overall. This was due to Gen Z seeing the company as having a forward-thinking attitude around Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

93% of survey respondents wanted an employer to “give them opportunities to drive positive environmental or social change,” while 82% said it was important for a company to have inclusivity policies for the LGBTQ+ community.

The Social Impact Barometer uniquely measures a company’s social impact across four categories: reputation as an employer, support for community, attitude towards the individual and sustainability record. It analyses the social media of 85,000 16-24-year-olds across 22 million data.

I will give them all the credit they deserve for understanding how to treat their full-time salaried employees well and retain talent, as well as their caring about the craft of designing games, but their rather successful PR and legal teams work to highlight stories like these while burying others. Their treatment of contracted employees through staffing agencies and their use of them in general falls right in line with disappointing labor abuses that are felt across most industries. Also they very recently condemned a man to a lifetime of financial ruin simply to make an example of him while he was an easy target and the face of a piracy operations that extended well beyond him.
