While The Super Mario Bros. Movie wrapped its theatrical run in most places quite some time ago, the film is still in cinemas over in Japan. This is due to the movie reaching Japan’s theaters considerably later than other regions, and the latest returns show us that movie-goers are really eating it up.

Earlier this week, The Super Mario Bros. Movie crossed the $100M (13.74B yen) mark in Japan, making it Universal’s top title ever in the region. This figure is also good enough to move The Super Mario Bros. Movie into 6th place in terms of biggest Hollywood films of all-time in Japan.

Worldwide, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is still the biggest film of the year, and with Japan’s box office still going strong, Nintendo and Universal could see the movie climb even higher before its theatrical run ends.
