Sonic CD's opening animation storyboards showcased
What I wouldn't give to own one of those...
Back when I was a kid, my mind was absolutely blown by the opening animation for Sonic CD. Sure, the video was very low quality and played in an extremely letterboxed manner, but that didn’t take away from the awesome spectacle. Fast-forward to 2023, and now we get another glimpse at how that amazing intro was created.
Original Sonic designer Naoto Ohshima has taken to social media to share some of the storyboards for the Sonic CD intro, which you can see above. The studio behind that intro is the legendary Toei Animation, and Ohshima has shared a glimpse at the documents he sent that studio to aid them in the intro’s creation.
