Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties: Definitive Edition sees pre-orders open Sept. 22nd, 2023, digital launches Dec. 2023

Limited Run Games proudly announces the long-awaited physical pre-order date for Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties: Definitive Edition. The physical release is coming in both standalone and Collector’s Editions for Nintendo Switch. Pre-orders will launch on September 22nd and run through October 22nd, 2023. In addition, Limited Run is ready to announce that the digital edition will launch in December of 2023 on Switch, with more information to be shared in the coming weeks.

Notorious for being one of the worst games ever released, the development team behind Definitive Edition made a choice not just to port a bad game but to enhance, update, and contextualize Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties in a way that seeks to shed new light on the 3DO release. Throughout the game, you will find dozens of interviews and behind-the-scenes featurettes featuring stories from those who participated in the original game’s creation, those who revived interest in Plumbers online and influenced internet culture forever, and those tasked to bring the game back for a new generation to explore. This is in conjunction with various quality-of-life fixes, an all-new Plumb the Depths dungeon-crawler mode, and a virtual gallery filled with deleted scenes and more to discover. The result? The greatest remaster of the worst game ever made.

Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties: Definitive Edition, alongside the Carbon Engine and titles like Arzette: The Jewel of Faramore, represents the first step in Limited Run’s new commitment to internally developed and funded titles.

Limited Run has gone all-out with their first Limited Run Entertainment release, combining the amateurish, retro graphic design of the original release with modern vaporwave style and a dash of anime flair—after all, Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties: Definitive Edition is a visual novel (technically). The collection features new art from Billy Norrby, Jonathan Kim, Mariel Cartwright, Igor-Alban Chevalie, Steve Brown, and José Salot.

The crown jewel of Limited Run’s Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties: Definitive Edition collection is the Collector’s Edition. The offerings include an all-new strategy guide from Press Run, a double-sided poster featuring José Salot’s new art, and—of course—a replica tie.

The game collection is rounded out by a new merch line to celebrate the physical release. Highlights include a skate deck, cassette tape soundtrack single release, and the Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties novelization by Mike Drucker. These items will all be available to pre-order during the physical reservation period.
