On Oct. 24th, 2023, Switch owners will have the chance to relive Solid Snake’s early adventures through Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. That package includes the original Metal Gear Solid, which features the iconic voice work of actors like David Hayter and Jennifer Hale. We can only hope Hale is receiving some serious residuals for this collection, as she got paid a shockingly low amount for her original recording sessions.

Jennifer Hale, who voices Naomi Hunter in Metal Gear Solid, has revealed that she was paid just $1,200 to record her lines for the game. That’s an unbelievably low amount of money for the work Hale did, and it’s even more offensive when you realize Metal Gear Solid made a staggering $176 million. Keep in mind that’s just the money pulled in from the original PS1 release back in the day!

There’s no word on what Hale made for her lines in Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, or subsequent re-releases of Metal Gear Solid. Hale also returned to voice the character in Metal Gear Solid 4, but we don’t know how much she made from that gig either. Let’s hope Konami seriously stepped it up for that outing.
