Air Twister is an exhilarating 3D shooter crafted by the legendary game designer Yu Suzuki, the mastermind behind Shenmue, Space Harrier, Virtua Fighter, and Out Run. Ahead of the game’s release, Gematsu had a chance to talk with Suzuki all about Air Twister. In one part of the interview, we get to hear about the sources of inspiration behind Air Twister’s modern, yet retro visual style.
“I wanted to create an extraordinary world where rocks and buildings float in the sky. For this I took inspiration from the wonderous worlds of Salvador Dali’s works and science fiction novels. The idea of riding atop a large animal is my homage to the The NeverEnding Story.”
