The latest gaming sales data for the United States have come in, and it gives us a look at how things went down in September of 2023. Let’s kick things off with the top 20 software sales of the month. Please note that Nintendo titles mentioned in the top 20 do not include digital sales, while other titles do.

- hardware spending fell 8% when compared to a year ago to $451 million
- single-digit percentage growth in consumer spending on Xbox was offset by declines across both PlayStation 5 and Switch
- PlayStation 5 remained the best-selling hardware platform in both unit and dollar sales during September 2023
- Xbox Series again ranked 2nd across both measures
