The latest weekly UK software sales have come in, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 managed to beat Super Mario Bros. Wonder at No. 1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe climbed up to No. 6. Check out the top 40 breakdown below for the week ending October 21st, 2023, alongside some general points below them.
- Spider-Man 2 was the fourth biggest boxed game this year, just behind The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, while Super Mario Bros. Wonder was the fifth biggest boxed game this year.
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder sales were slightly more than New Super Mario Bros Wii, making it the biggest 2D Mario launch in the UK’s history. I was actually not far from Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario 3D All-Stars
- For comparison, Super Mario Bros. Wonder launch sales were 62% lower than The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Sonic Superstars sales were down 63% when compared to Sonic Frontier
- 49% of all boxed sales for Sonic Superstars were for the Nintendo Switch
