Min Min's amiibo is scannable in-box

Wait a min minute...

For a long time now, amiibo collectors have been complaining about not being able to scan amiibo for games without opening the box. Each amiibo box had an NFC blocker inside to keep people from scanning the amiibo without buying. Now it seems that might be a thing of the past.

In the video above, you can see proof that a Min Min amiibo can be scanned through the box, which means there’s no NFC blocker in place. This isn’t a one-off situation either, as other commentors on the Reddit thread have stated they could do the same with their amiibo.

Whether this is just a one-time mistake by Nintendo or the new plan going forward remains to be seen. Let’s hope Nintendo has heard the cries of amiibo collectors and decided to ease up on them.

I think this could be an effort try and reignite a bit more interest in amiibo. They were a big craze at the start, but they're a niche product these days.

Here in Ireland, most retailers gave up on them years ago, probably before the Switch released. Now only Gamestop sell them, and only if you reserve them for launch.

It's also worth noting that the Smash King Dedede amiibo that was restocked for Kirby and the Forgotten Land's launch was also like this.
