The release situation concerning Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion has been all kinds of a wreck in the last couple of weeks. First, the game was set to arrive on Nov. 14th. Then, just a few days back, we learned the title would be pushed to Nov. 30th, 2023. Today adds in yet another wrinkle to the release plans, as those in Europe and Australia can grab Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion on the Switch today.

Nightdive Studios has released a statement explaining the mess, saying that holiday schedules have caused a miscommunication and launch plans falling out of alignment. This is why Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion is out now on Switch in EU/AUS, but there’s a big issue. Those versions of the game don’t include a big day-one patch to fix up a variety of issues.

As long as you don’t mind going in with a more buggy experience, you can download Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion on the Switch eShops in EU/AUS today. As for America, we’ll have to wait until November 30th, 2023, but our version will include the patch. For those in EU/AUS, it’s expected the intended day-one patch will now arrive sometime in December. You can see Nightdive’s full explanation of the situation below.

Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion is a faithful restoration of the classic first-person shooter originally released in 2000 for the Nintendo 64, upgraded through Nightdive Studios’ proprietary KEX Engine for play on modern gaming devices with up to a 4K resolution at 120FPS. It joins Nightdive Studios, Universal Games, and Digital Platforms’ popular Turok and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil remasters, capping off the trilogy. Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion features upgraded gameplay, high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting and rendering, and support for console gamepads with platform-specific features.
