Lorelei and The Laser Eyes, a modern take on puzzle adventure games, is still scheduled for a 2023 Switch release. That might seem less and less likely as we inch closer to the end of the year, but at least we know developer Simogo is still hard at work on the title, as they’ve just shared an interesting update via social media.

We already knew that Lorelei and The Laser Eyes is going to be chock-full of puzzles, and it seems many of them will be quite taxing. So much so that you might need to jot a thing or two down while playing in order to work out solutions. Thankfully, the developers have made it easy to manipulate the game and scribble notes at the same time.

Simogo has confirmed that Lorelei and The Laser Eyes lets you play the game one-handed, which frees your other hand for note-taking. As you can see above, the combo of one-handed Joy-Con play and a notepad for working out solutions will make for a perfect pair. And yes, Simogo also confirmed that all the left-handed writers out there can play with the right Joy-Con instead.

In Lorelei and The Laser Eyes, the stage is set. Imagine an old baroque manor, perhaps a hotel or a museum, somewhere in central Europe. A woman wanders in search of answers. An international auteur. What does he want? An aristocratic artist. Who killed her? A vagabond illusionist. Who is he? And you, the wandering woman. Why are you here?

No one ever remembers, but EarthBound was designed to be playable with a single hand. Always neat when a game can pull that off, even if it inspires some dirty jokes.
