How long before Nintendo swoops in?
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary. Nintendo themselves haven’t done much to mark the occasion, but fans have been chatting about the milestone on social media non-stop. There have been countless memories revisited and art tributes, but the video above takes things one big step forward.
While Ocarina of Time has already received a remake on the 3DS, plenty of Zelda fans would like to see the game tackled once again for an even bigger visual overhaul. Nintendo has made no mention of doing that, but some fans have taken up the task with a bit of a side project, and with impressive results.
The video above shows off one idea for what Ocarina of Time could look like if it were the focus of an Unreal Engine 5 remake. The visual stylings aim to keep things both in line with what the original N64 release had to offer, along with what we’ve seen from modern-day remakes of other late-90s titles. The results are in the sweet spot of both brand-new and respectful of the classic.
There’s more to come from this fan project, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on things to share what comes next.
