Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the UK's #1 "individual format" game for Xmas week

As of time of publishing, there are 3+ days left until Christmas. That means people still have a chance to get out to stores and pick up the gifts they need, but by and large, most shoppers have already snagged the goodies they’ve been looking for. Over in the UK, we now know that a a ton of gift-givers plan on leaving Super Mario Bros. Wonder under their Christmas trees.

While we’ve already shared the weekly UK software sales, there’s an interesting note to share on where various games fell. While EA Sports FC 24 was the top game of the week overall, the real story comes from the “individual format” categories. This chart takes a look at game sales by individual platforms, and that’s where Nintendo shines.

EA Sports FC 24 is available on multiple platforms, but Super Mario Bros. Wonder can only be found on Switch. That makes it all the more impressive to see that Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the #1 individual format game in the UK for the week of sales ending Dec. 16th, 2023. Unfortunately, we don’t have the actual sales numbers to share, but #1 is still #1!

It’s also worth pointing out that Nintendo doesn’t share digital sales data for their titles, which only adds to how big of an achievement this #1 spot is. Nintendo managed to top all other individual format titles with just the physical sales of Super Mario Bros. Wonder alone! That makes for Nintendo’s seventh #1 individual format chart placement for Xmas week in the company’s history.
