There’s no doubt that Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is one of the biggest releases kicking off 2024, as it’s set to arrive on Switch January 15th, 2024. Thankfully, it looks to offer up fans plenty of content to enjoy, as we now know the game includes roughly 25 hours of content. That number will vary on skill and depth of exploration, but that’s still an incredibly sizable chunk of time for a 2D Metroidvania.

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is clearly looking to take the roots of the original Prince of Persia and expand on them, and there’s no one more happy about that decision than the franchise’s creator. Jordan Mechner is the man that birthed the Prince of Persia series decades ago, and while he’s not deeply involved in Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown, the game very much gets his blessing.

You can see what Mechner had to say about the Prince’s latest adventure below, courtesy of Game Informer.

“I’m thrilled that Prince of Persia is getting a new start after so long, from such a great team. I know they’ve brought a lot of thought and creativity and deep experience to The Lost Crown. I’m really looking forward to playing the final game and discovering all they’ve put into it.

The Lost Crown is a new branch of the Prince of Persia franchise, separate from the Sands of Time remake being developed at Montreal. I’m happy for them to coexist.

There’s been a lot of desire to bring back Prince of Persia, both from fans and within Ubisoft. The Montpellier team, with The Lost Crown, has succeeded in accomplishing what many have wished for.”
