Portal demake that runs on an N64 has now left beta
This was a triumph
There has been a big wave of fan-made demakes in recent years, but most of them aim to bring modern games to platforms like the NES, Game Boy, and Game Boy Advance. In this instance, we have a not-so-new game heading to a not-so-old console.
One dedicated Portal fan is currently working hard to bring the Valve classic to the N64, which we originally posted about all the way back in May 2022. The developer has been toiling away ever since, and is happy to announce that this demake is now out of beta. You can see just how far things have progressed in the new video above.
Once again, just to be very clear, this is a version of Portal running on actual N64 hardware, and not just something that looks like an N64 game. That makes it all the more impressive!
