Older gamers might remember GameShark as the company that put out all sorts of cheat devices for consoles and portables. While GameShark has been out of that business for quite some time, they are apparently making an AI-related return, and they claim to have some inside info on Nintendo’s future as well.

GameShark is set to be renamed AI Shark, which will be using its “revolutionary AI-enhanced technology” to offer gamers personalized hints and tips as they play games. In other words, AI Shark will watch what you play and how you play it in order to determine where you might need some help.

In the official press release for AI Shark, the company mentions that they plan to launch their service alongside the “Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2024.” How or why AI Shark became privy to this information is beyond everyone, and it’s obviously incredibly hard to believe that somehow AI Shark is in the know when it comes to what Nintendo’s doing with the Switch successor. Furthermore, it would be insane to think AI Shark would share this information with the public.

While this story is certainly an interesting one and AI Shark will no doubt be answering some questions going forward, right now we’d say to take this bit of information with a grain of salt.

UPDATE: Jason Schreier has received a statement from AI Shark, and a rep from their company claims they’re “just guessing” as to when the Switch’s successor will arrive.

UPDATE 2: An Altec Lansing rep has told Gematsu that Nintendo “has not officially clarified launch” of the Switch’s successor.

Game Shark.... That's a name I've not heard in a long time. A long time.

I used the heck out of mine on the N64!

GameShark does AI now? Well there’s a sign of the times.

Compared to other applications of AI, their idea does sound pretty novel and less of an ethical concern. At least using that can’t screw up your save data!

As long as it's optional...
