23rd Annual NAVGTR Awards Nominees Revealed

Will Nintendo take home the big win?

The National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit media organization of 1,141 media voters and 14,453 subscribers, has announced nominees for its 23rd annual awards program honoring video game art, technology and production.

The NAVGTR Awards honor 54 competitive categories recognizing achievement in animation, art direction, character design, controls, game design, game engineering, musical score, sound effects, writing, and more. Since its inception, the academy has recognized over 6,816 talented individuals.

Leading all games with 21 nominations is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, developed by Insomniac Games. The other most-nominated games are Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, Final Fantasy XVI, Immortals of Aveum, and Hi-Fi RUSH.

This year’s Game of the Year nominees for the NAVGTR Award are:

  • Alan Wake 2
  • Baldur’s Gate III
  • Dave the Diver
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

The top developers this year are Insomniac Games, Nintendo, Square Enix, Summerfall, Tango Gameworks, and Ascendant Studios.

The top publishers this year are Sony Interactive Entertainment, Nintendo, Square Enix, Electronic Arts, Bethesda Softworks, Focus Entertainment, Humble Bundle, Netflix, and Bandai Namco.

Several original properties were nominated, including Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, Immortals of Aveum, Hi-Fi RUSH, Starfield, Lies of P, Tchia, Dave the Diver, Cocoon, Atomic Heart, Planet of Lana, Humanity, Party Animals, Sea of Stars, and Pizza Tower. Winners will be announced on February 27, 2024.
