Google Trends shows each state's favorite co-op games
The couple that plays together, stays together
Some may say that couples who game together stay together. Co-op games have become a great avenue for long-distance (and short-distance) pairs to spend time together. With February 14th right around the corner, the Humble Bundle team used Google Trends data to discover the most popular co-op games for couples and how they “rank” in each state.
Some interesting findings:
- Cuphead, Fortnite, and Rocket League are the most searched-for co-op games
- Overcooked!, a game that infamously strains relationships in the gaming community, (unsurprisingly) only ranks as the top co-op game in three states
- Despite winning the 2023 “Game of the Year,” Baldur’s Gate 3 was only the most popular game in Alaska
Humble reviewed rankings of the “best co-op games for couples in 2024” by Acer, The Knot, Reddit, PCGamesN, Video Games, VG247, Marriage.com, and Wired to identify thirty of the most-featured co-op games. Humble then used Google Trends to collect search volume data for the thirty selected co-op games from the past twelve months (1/11/2023 – 1/11/2024). The game with the most search volume in each state was deemed that state’s “favorite.”
