Somebody stop him!
The speculation can end and the celebrations can begin. After much speculation and rumor-mongering, it’s been confirmed that Jim Carrey will be returning as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
You might remember that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 gave Jim Carrey the biggest box office opening in his career, which is a pretty incredible stat. Carrey has been bankable at the box office for decades, but seeing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 land him such an accolade was definitely surprising. That surprise was only surpassed by Carrey’s comments on calling it quits with the second installment in the film series.
We’re not sure how the powers that be made it happen, but all that matters is Carrey is coming back. He’ll be joining other returning stars, including Ben Schwartz, Lee Majdoub, Idris Elba, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Tom Butler, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter. Those Sonic veterans will also be flanked by a handful of newcomers for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, such as Krysten Ritter, Alyla Browne, James Wolk, Sofia Pernas, Cristo Fernández, and Jorma Taccone. The roles for these fresh faces are yet to be shared.
