Remember when Nintendo caused all kinds of speculation with that Chibi-Robo image? GoNintendo remembers...

Nintendo fans have grown incredibly restless in recent weeks; much more than usual. This is due to the usual expectations of a February Nintendo Direct along with the speculation on Nintendo’s Switch successor. Factually, we don’t know a damn thing about either, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from churning.

In the interest of excitement and fostering discussion, we’re sharing the latest rumors we’ve heard on both topics. With that said, please, PLEASE recognize that this is all speculation and rumors from supposed inside sources. With that out of the way, let’s dive into the madness.

First up, NateDrake and Necro Filipe, two supposed industry insiders, are claiming that the time for Nintendo to reveal the Switch’s successor is drawing near. According to these two sources, we can expect to see the official reveal of Nintendo’s new hardware come sometime in March 2024. Nintendo fans are chomping at the bit to see what Nintendo’s cooking up next platform-wise, so even the slight hope that we could see their work come March is quite exciting.

Along with that comes more talk of a rumored Nintendo Direct for this month. The latest round of rumors from the same sources above claim that next week should be the time/place for this Nintendo Direct, but it might not be the kind of presentation you’re hoping for. Instead of a traditional Nintendo Direct, the Big N might be going the Partner Showcase route, which means a focus on third party titles.

Again, this is just rumor and speculation right now, but I guess we’ll find out quite soon just how on-the-money these sources are.

Thanks to EdBova01 for the heads up!

March would be perfect for an announcement if they plan to release during fall this year.

Furukawa's comments aren't *technically* a lie if it's still in "The Nintendo Switch™ family of systems".

A March top-level reveal and semi-tease makes quite a bit of sense when you factor in the company’s fiscal year projections that will be detailed at the end of March/early April. If they don’t have the new platform to reference then their fiscal projections for FY2025 would consist of maybe 9-10 million switches and that’s it. Shareholders would run in circles screaming doom. Switch 2/SNS hardware projections will prop the company up fully and completely

I admit I'd be a little disappointed at a partner Direct… but I'd get over it (hopefully).

Also note, it's "champing at the bit"

All the more time to remind people that Metroid Prime 4 is never coming out.

Sometimes I'm like "March? That far aw..." and then I remember we're close to the middle of February already.

I'm a bit bored of rumours by now, but sites and youtubers need some clicks, so I must help out =)
