Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons dev reveals how the unique collab came about
A real barn-burner
Back in December of last year, publisher Rainy Frog and developer Score Studios announced Piczle Cross: Story of Seasons for Switch, which is set to launch on February 27th, 2024. As you can probably guess, this release is a spin-off of the Piczle series features traditional nonogram logic-puzzles with a Story of Seasons twist.
We’ve seen special themed releases like this from other puzzle series, but a collaboration with Story of Seasons is quite unique as far as collaborative efforts go. Ever wonder how these seemingly unrelated franchises came to couple up? Nintendo Life talked to James Kay, founder/creator of Piczle series, to find out.
Rainy Frog, the publisher, and I were blue-sky brainstorming about what would be cool IPs to do crossovers with and when Story of Seasons came up it felt like such a great idea that we decided to really pursue it. Story of Seasons is cute, relaxing, comfortable gaming and Piczle Cross is a relaxing visual logic-puzzle so it just felt right. Also, I am an unapologetic fan of the Story of Seasons series.
