Nintendo celebrated Mario Day 2024 with a host of announcements, including the release date for the Switch remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. We now know that game is coming May 23rd, 2024, and today we’ve found out that it’ll be offering some fresh content not found in the original.

Nintendo shared a press release today going over all of the things they revealed on this year’s Mario Day, including the coverage of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. In the blurb shared, Nintendo made sure to mention that the game is going to offer “new gameplay features,” but stopped short of mentioning what they were.

There’s also a hint at new content over on the Nintendo.com page for Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which mentions that the title will also include “updated features.” So, it seems like not only will there be some elements from the original release that will get reworked, but brand-new elements as well. As to what those are, your guess is as good as ours!

I suspect that just like the Super Mario RPG remake, they added some optional conveniences, but kept the game mostly authentic. Hopefully that's the case, anyway.

i would love if the Paper Mario the Thousand Years Door remake, add a mini campaing based on the Luigi story on the game.

Anything like that would certainly take my interest to a whole new level. What an awesome surprise that would be!
