Balatro came to Switch on Feb. 20th, 2024, along with other platforms. We’ve been learning about the game’s success from literally the first week of release, as the title was profitable within its first hour, and reached a million in revenue 8 hours into its launch. That was followed by sales milestone announcements, and today brings us the biggest one yet.

Publisher Playstack has announced that Balatro now sits at 1 million units sold across all platforms combined. The game managed to hit that mark in less than a month on the market, so you can clearly see the momentum for Balatro is still there. There was a bit of a speed bump due to the game’s removal from the Switch eShop in Europe due to a ratings issue, but clearly fans were more than willing to scoop the game up once it returned a couple of days later.

Balatro is a poker-inspired roguelike deck builder all about creating powerful synergies and winning big. Merging the timeless charm of poker with strategic deck-building elements, Balatro promises an engaging gameplay experience that is both nostalgically familiar and refreshingly new. The strategic twist of joker cards in the game adds an unexpected layer of excitement, broadening its appeal to a diverse range players.
