Kanye West has been in the public eye for all sorts of strange reasons in recent years, but none of them have been relevant to gaming. Oddly enough, a new story has surfaced today that directly ties West to Nintendo’s most famous mascot.

A new lawsuit has been filed against West by former employee Trevor Phillips, who says that West harassed them at work in a number of different ways. According to Phillips, West threw a “temper tantrum” and threatened to punch him. This was followed by more verbal abuse in which West berated Phillips and belittled his position at work along with Phillips’ family and physical ailments.

What does any of this have to do with Nintendo? Well, the lawsuit goes on to state that after the harassment, West had a complete mood shift. He turned to Phillips and did the “celebratory dance of Mario from the famous video game Super Mario Brothers.” This saw West jumping into the air with his fist above his head, telling Phillips, “I’m gonna give you one more chance. Another life.”

It’s a peculiar moment in a very weird moment, but nonetheless, it’s now part of Phillips’ lawsuit against West. Phillips is looking to secure $35k in damages.

The weirdest thing is that the lawsuit describes the move as Mario's celebratory dance...
It's a Mario jump! Not a celebratory dance!

Have these lawyers never played a videogame before!?!
