Up to this point, Shigeru Miyamoto was the only games industry creator to receive the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award for Fine Arts in the media arts category. Today, another name joins that list, and it’s another icon of the industry.

Hideo Kojima joins the ranks of Shigeru Miyamoto by snagging a Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts. The Award for Fine Arts is a historical award given by the Agency for Cultural Affairs every year since 1950 to individuals who have made outstanding achievements in various fields of the arts, and who have opened up new frontiers.

Hideo Kojima is extremely well known in the game industry, having brought to life the Metal Gear, Snatcher, Boktai, and Death Stranding universes, among contributions to numerous others.
