The second major gameplay video for Sonic Frontiers has been released today. The first video focused on basic movement and exploration in the game, and today’s video dives into the ins and outs of enemy combat. You can check out the action above.

Sonic will take on some rather large enemies in Sonic Frontiers, and it’ll take more than one hit to squash these foes. You’ll have to put Sonic’s speed to good use in order to topple these baddies, so make sure to stay on your toes and dip in for a quick hit or two when you see a chance.

Sonic Frontiers is slated for a Holiday 2022 release. We’re yet to see the Switch version in action, but hopefully we get a look at Switch-specific gameplay soon.

Thanks to Sligeach_eire for the heads up!

That boss was very... eh, weak.

I could easily think of a better way for Sonic to run up those limbs and reach the top. First, make the boss taller, at least three times taller. Second, remove those blue boost rings, they take control away from the player and that's a sin for freedom based gameplay. Have sonic run up the limb a bit slower than you would normally run on land and have hostiles spawn on the limbs that sonic needs to dodge as you run up, also change the camera so you see where Sonic's going instead of what's going on right now where the player is just hoping they aimed correctly.

I bet I could think of a lot more but this is just off the top of my head. Man this game is looking lie Sonic 06 all over again.
